Cooling Tower Chemicals

Cooling towers or heat exchangers where air and heated industrial water meet and some of the water is discharged as steam into the atmosphere, remaining water cools down significantly and pumped back to the process equipment.

Cooling tower chemicals ensure optimum operational costs with monitoring and constant check of corrosion, deposition, bio-fouling regularly. Cooling tower chemicals establishes as the most cost effective industrial water treatment program, with respect to energy, water and chemical usage. Scaling if untreated for long reduces area available to carry water, causes inefficient heat dissipation, and blockage of pipelines.

Scale and Corrosion Control

The important causal factors of scaling and corrosion are oxygen and other dissolved gases, TDS, pH levels, velocity, temperature, microbial activity. Scaling can form on equipment and on hot water heaters and cause other problems.

  • Reduces the area available to carry water
  • Causes inefficient heat transfer/ dissipation ability
  • Causes blockage of pipelines if untreated for long

KL Solutions range of cooling tower chemicals keep a check on scale and corrosion.

Cooling Tower Biocide | Microbiocide

There are two primary modes of microbial entry into cooling water systems, water borne through make up water and airborne through circulating air. Uncontrolled growth of microorganisms leads to contribution towards fouling, scaling and corrosion. Specific factors affect the degree of microbial contamination which is availability of nutrients, air, location, and ambient temperature (4 – 66°C). Formation of microbial slimes or biofilms is accumulated masses of microbial biomass and their wastes that are effective in trapping foulants.

KL Solutions formulated cooling tower biocides in recommended dosage keep microbial induced corrosion at bay.

Dispersants and Bio-dispersants

Dispersants treatment is an ongoing treatment for deposition and microbial contamination. Dispersants and bio-dispersants are not biocidal in nature, but loosen microbial deposits that detach from metal surfaces when flushed. Uses of dispersants are effective against both micro and macro-fouling. Bio-dispersants are also effective in preventing microbial slime or biofilm formation. Primary methods for controlling fouling are categorized as eradication or prevention.

Descalant | Passivator

Passivation of cooling towers makes them resistant to harmful effects of white rust. Descaling is followed by passivation to ensure effectiveness of the same. Conventional cleaning and HVAC systems use highly alkaline water that can cause white rust to form on galvanized surfaces. White rust formation can be averted with descaling and passivation with KL Solutions cooling tower chemicals series, resulting in a formation of a thin inhibitory adherent film on the inner surfaces of the tower.
